What I am excited about this week…
  1. Wilbur and the Web! Don’t miss this year’s primary school play, Wilbur and the Web, an adaptation of Charlotte’s Web. The students have been working so hard on practicing their parts, please come celebrate and honor their hard work. Shows are in the PAC at 14:30 on May 19 and 20. Tickets are K30.
  2. IB exams end on the 19th!  Congratulations to the Grade 12 IB students for completing their exams. The last three weeks have been a grueling series of challenging exam papers. Having spoken to many of the seniors as they came out of the exams, I am happy to report that I generally saw a lot of smiles and heard from them that they felt well-prepared.
  3. Washing Machine Week! One of my favorite traditions at AISL is “Washing Machine Week.” In the week between the end of IB exams and the Graduation ceremony, Ms. Baldry hosts a life-skills program for our soon-to-be-graduates. In the past, the week’s events have included learning how to wash and iron clothes, how to sew on a button, how to change a tire, and how to cook a recipe or two. It is a fun way for students to learn,  enjoy each other’s company, and begin to make the emotional transition from high school to whatever lies ahead.
  4. Grade 12 Award Ceremony! The entire AISL community is welcome to come to the Grade 12 Award Ceremony on May 26 from 12:00-13:00 in the PAC.  This ceremony is an opportunity to recognize our seniors for their many academic achievements throughout the year and for everyone to learn about their university plans. Please come celebrate with us.
  5. Graduation is coming! We will be holding the commencement ceremony for our Grade 12 students on Saturday, May 27 at 14:00 in the PAC. This event is open to the entire AISL community. Please come join us as we celebrate this important rite of passage.
