What I’m excited about this week…

Good luck swimmers! Good luck to all our swimmers who will be competing at the ZASU gala in Mufulira this weekend.

Save the Date – ISSEA Basketball! Please plan to come and cheer on our basketball teams while they compete in the annual International Schools of Southern and Eastern Africa (ISSEA) Basketball tournament from 31 January through 2 February here at AISL. Hosting this event is a great honor since it is one of the oldest and largest ISSEA tournaments. We will host 140 scholar-athletes and more than thirty coaches from seven other international schools in the region for an exciting few days of great sport and camaraderie. We would love to have as many parents and students as possible coming to the games to cheer on our Leopards as we go for the gold!  You can link to the games schedule, photos, and live streams at www.isseafrica.com/basketball. The first games will be on Thursday morning: AISL boys vs. the defending champions (AISM) at 08:30 at the Pavilion and AISL girls (who are the defending champions) vs. IST at 09:45 in the Leopard’s Lair. Please come enjoy some basketball!

Thank You Host Families! At this time, we have found enough beds in the AISL community for all our visiting ISSEA basketball players. Thank you so much to those of you who opened your homes to our guests. It is generosity like yours that makes these wonderful events possible. Thank you so much!

ISSEA Rugby and Swimming! Good luck to our rugby players and swimmers, who will depart Wednesday for ISSEA tournaments in Johannesburg and Uganda, respectively. I am always humbled by the level of commitment shown by our scholar-athletes as they strive to maintain academic and family commitments while also training to perform at a very high level at the highly-competitive ISSEA tournaments.  Go Leopards!

PTA Meeting on 29 January! Please join us at Tuesday’s Parent-Teacher Association meeting in the Protea Tree Conference Room. This will be a great opportunity to learn about upcoming PTA events and hear about ways that you can contribute to our community. I hope to see you there.
