What I’m excited about this week…
Mutually Assured Destruction! You won’t want to miss our Secondary School Play, Mutually Assured Destruction, by Don Zolidos. This is a series of one-act comedies that has been directed by our Grade 11 IB DP Theater students and includes actors from Grades 7-11. Come enjoy some laughs on 29 March at 19:00 in the Tiyende Pamodzi Theater. The performance is free of charge but please note that some of the content might not be suitable for our younger students. IB DP Visual Arts Exhibition! Please join us for the opening of this year’s Diploma Program Visual Arts Exhibition on 2 April from 17:00-19:00 in the Palm Pavilion. Each year, our Grade 12 Visual Arts students create a truly stunning array of artwork that they have to display and then submit to the IB for evaluation. Please come and appreciate the incredible talents of our scholar-artists and the strength or our art program. I know you will be impressed. Parent-Teacher Conferences! Please feel welcome to come meet with your child’s teachers during our Parent-Teacher Conference days on Wednesday and Thursday, 3-4 April from 13:00-17:00. Classes will end at noon on each day and there will be no ASA’s except for ISSEA practices. Please see the Primary School and Secondary School sections of this newsletter for more information. Please Help: The Stories that Shape Us! The theme for this year’s WorldFest! is The Stories that Shape Us. For those who are new, WorldFest! is our annual celebration of the diversity at our school. It features a flag parade, an assembly, cultural activities, and an international food fair. This year it will take place on Thursday, 18 April. A large planning committee is already working hard to ensure that this is a great day. There are at least two important ways that you can help. First, we need a lot of parents to donate a plate of food from their home country to support the international food fair. The PTA will be contacting you to ask for your support. Second, we are looking for some parents who can come in during the day and present a cultural activity of some sort (e.g. a game, song, dance, story from your country) to our secondary school students. If you would like to learn more about this, please contact Terry Maguire ([email protected]).
