What I am excited about this week…

  • Graduation! The students of the Class of 2018 were honored at their Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, 24 May. This was AISL’s 15th graduating class. It was a beautiful ceremony that featured our band playing Pomp and Circumstance, our choir leading the Zambian national anthem, and Kassidy (Grade 7!) leading the United States national anthem on solo trumpet. Our new poet laureate, Shalizeh, read one of her works and was followed by student speaker, Bilngwe, and faculty speaker, Lionel Honnorat. The ceremony was followed by a lovely reception with light refreshments. Many thanks to Julie Baldry, Sonia Old, and their team for planning such a special event.
  • MYP Band and Choir Concert and Visual Arts Exhibition! Please come join us for our Middle School Band and Choir concert and Visual Arts exhibition tonight in the Tiyende Pamodzi Theater. The Visual Arts Exhibition will open at 17:00 and the concert will begin at 18:30. The students have been working very hard to put on a great show. Please come out and enjoy an evening of the arts.
  • PTA Father’s Day Sale! The PTA will be hosting a special Father’s Day Sale at the Friday Market on 1 June from 12:00-13:30. Please stop by the card-making table to make a card and also consider buying a gift to honor the dads in our community.
  • Volunteers Thank You Celebration! AISL has benefitted from the help of more than 100 parent volunteers this year. Please join us as we honor them at a special tea/coffee morning at 07:30 on 6 June on the lawn in front of the library.
  • Last Day of School for Students – 14 June - Noon Dismissal! This year has flown by. We will end the year with our final farewell assembly from 11:30-12:00 on 14 June. Students will be dismissed at noon to begin their well-deserved holiday. Classes will resume on 8 August.
