What I am excited about this week…

  1. Performance at Friday Market! We are proud to be hosting the John Mackenzie School Ensemble on Thursday and Friday, 7-8 September. Hailing from Francistown, Botswana, the ensemble is a combination of voice, marimba and western instruments played by upper primary and high school students. On Friday, 8 September, the Friday Market will be set up in front of the PAC with entertainment provided by the JMS ensemble. The whole AISL Community is welcome to grab a picnic blanket, some lunch, and come and enjoy some amazing music!
  2. First Open Board Meeting! This year’s first open board meeting will occur on 11 September at 18:00 on the Protea Tree Conference Room. All members of the parent association are welcome. Please see the agenda later in the Leopard’s Tale.
  3. Basketball! We had a great start to the basketball season for both the boys and girls teams. They went undefeated in the Lusaka International Schools League (LISL) tournament on 1 September with strong wins over ISL, LICS and Baobab. Congratulations to our players and coaches! GO LEOPARDS!
  4. Tuesday Mornings! Please remember that every Tuesday morning holds an opportunity for parents to support the school. We hold our PTA meetings generally on the last Tuesday of each month and all the other Tuesdays are dedicated to our program of parent information sessions. These all begin at 07:30 and are held in the Protea Tree Conference Room, unless otherwise noted. On Tuesday, 12 September, come join our counselors as they describe our approach to Child Protection.
  5. Professional Development Days! There will be no classes nor ASA’s on 18-19 September so that the faculty and administrative staff can participate in two days of professional development activities. These days allow us the opportunity to upskill our team and spend valuable time reviewing and refining our programs.
