Thank you for a great year!

This year AISL turned thirty! What started as a tiny school in Roma for the 1986-87 school year has blossomed into a world-class international school with more than 500 students. We now offer the most robust academic and extracurricular program of any school in Zambia and are increasingly taking on regional significance.

This growth and development flows from our commitment to teach the whole child. Of course we dedicate ourselves to a strong academic program but we do not stop there. We also strive to support students in social, emotional, and physical health along with artistic expression, service to the community, and a commitment to leadership. Furthermore, we are committed more than ever to looking for ways to include, engage, and challenge as diverse a range of learners as possible. Students who graduate from AISL are ready and able to face the varied challenges of the 21st Century.

This year was a very busy one. We added band and choir to our secondary program and held three plays, several coffee houses, various music and drama nights, and multiple arts exhibitions. Our After School Activity (ASA) program grew to where we now offer more than sixty individual activities in each season. Our students traveled on at least fifteen international trips, seven Explore Zambia trips, and numerous sports trips within Lusaka or as far away as the Copperbelt. They participated in more than two dozen individual student-led service projects. We took home five national and seventeen regional ISAZ titles and two ISSEA titles. We competed in our first ever ISSEA Rugby tournament AND WON! We had brilliant school-wide Zambia Day and WorldFest! celebrations. Two visiting authors, David Biedrzycki and John Coy, worked with our students and helped inaugurate our newly redesigned Library and Discovery Center. And, best of all, we did all of these things while never losing focus on our day to day commitment to offer a world-class academic program!

I am honored to serve as the eighth Director of AISL. This is a very special school blessed with excellent teachers and an involved and supportive community. I sincerely hope that you have enjoyed your time at AISL this year. If you are leaving us, I wish you the very best of luck. If you are staying, I look forward to working with you again next year. Either way, always remember that once you are a Leopard, you are always a Leopard!
