What I am excited about this week…

1. ISSEA! Congratulations to the scholar‐athletes who participated in last week’s ISSEA Rugby, Swimming, and Basketball tournaments. What a fun weekend! Many thanks to everyone who contributed to these events. From support staff to host families to coaches to the PTA, we could not participate in ISSEA without significant support from the entire community. Special thanks to Mark Hoffman, Christine Moono, Bupe Mulenga, and Chulu Chansa for ensuring that the ISSEA Rugby tournament we hosted went particularly smoothly. You can read more about these tournaments in the Secondary School and Activities sections of this newsletter.

2. John Coy! We are thrilled to be welcoming author John Coy to AISL next week. He will spend the week sharing the joy of writing and reading with our students and teachers. Read more about his visit in the Library and Discovery Center section of this newsletter.

3. ISAZ Teachers Teaching Teachers Conference! On Saturday, February 11, AISL will once again be hosting the annual ISAZ Teachers Teaching Teachers Conference. Open to all ISAZ schools, this conference is the premier professional development experience of the year for independent schools in Zambia. I am honored to report that AISL teachers are running about two‐thirds of the workshops on offer. This is a great way that AISL can show leadership in Zambia and give back to the community. Many thanks to the large planning team made up of teachers, administrators, and support staff from AISL, LICS, ISL, and Baobab.

4. Class Photos! Please remember that yearbook photos will be taken next week. See the Primary School and Secondary
