What I’m excited about this week…

ISSEA Swimming, Rugby, and Basketball Results! Congratulations to our ISSEA scholar-athletes and their coaches. We had another very successful ISSEA session last weekend. In swimming at ISU, our girls took 2nd place and our boys took 4th place and both our boys and girls won the Fair Play Awards. At the rugby tournament at AISJ our senior boys took 2nd and our junior boys took 3rd and both our boys and girls won the Fair Play Awards. Finally, at the basketball tournament at AISL our boys took 3rd place and our girls took home the gold! It is worth noting that AISL is the second smallest school in ISSEA and four of the schools are twice our size. For a small school, we punch WAY above our weight class. Go Leopards!

ISSEA Hosting! Thank you so much to everyone who helped ensure that ISSEA Basketball was a great experience. Our guests raved about the tournament’s organization, our community’s spirit and hospitality, our host families, our beautiful campus, and our outstanding facilities. I had several coaches – veterans of many ISSEA events – tell me that this was the finest one that they had ever attended. Many thanks to Mark Hoffman, Christine Moono, Khetiwe Hamainza and their team for the great organization. Thank you to James Biggs and Martina van Vlaanderen and their teams for prepping the campus and for hours of setups, takedowns, and cleanup. Thank you to Faith Dube and our drivers for managing the transport. Thank you to the student and staff Tech Team, who offered the best live streaming that ISSEA has ever seen. Thanks to the PTA and the “Mom Squad” for offering food and drinks to the athletes and coaches. Thank you to the National Honor Society students who served as AISL ambassadors to our visiting teams. Thank you to all the AISL community members who came out to cheer on our teams. And finally, special thanks to everyone who hosted some of our guests – and to Paula Sachar for coordinating all the host families. This was another proud moment for AISL!
