What I am excited about this week 1. Professional Development at AISL! AISL has become widely known in the region for offering high quality professional development for teachers. During this first semester, we are hosting five multi-day workshops. Three of these workshops are specific to the IB program, one was dedicated to Making Thinking Visible classroom routines from Harvard’s Project Zero, and the last will be focused on better leadership through Cognitive Coaching. These are open to our own teachers as well as those from around the world. This is part of our dual commitment to upskill our own teachers while also providing training opportunities for teachers from other schools. This is one of many ways that AISL shows leadership in the international school community. Many thanks to AISL’s three IB Coordinators: Christine Kelly (PYP), Kathleen Bowin (MYP), and Francesca Mulazzi (DP) for organizing these valuable events. 2. AISL Sports this weekend! Please come out and support our Leopards this weekend. On Friday afternoon, we will be hosting the ISAZ U14 and U19 swimming gala. On Saturday ISL will host the ISAZ U14 and U19 basketball tournament. Our U14 and U19 Leopards' basketball teams (4 of them!) travel to ISL this Saturday, September 30, from 08:00 to 17:00. There are 12 participating schools, and we would love if you are able to stop by ISL and support our 40 Leopard players! Note: At the U19 level, the top 4 teams move on to the ISAZ Nationals. The U11 and U13 cricket team will be playing on Saturday at the Italian School. GO LEOPARDS! 3. ISSEA Hosting – 50 beds left to go! Many thanks to those who have offered to house some of our 140 visiting scholar-athletes for the upcoming ISSEA Volleyball tournament (25-29 October). We are truly grateful for your help. We still need to find about 50 more beds. Please help AISL show our guests the same hospitality that will be shown to our own students when they travel to other schools for ISSEA events. We are asking families to please consider opening your home to two or more visiting students. Please email [email protected] for more details or complete the Volleyball Hosting form here.
