What I’m excited about this week…
Holiday! Classes will end at the usual time on Wednesday, 6 March and will resume at 07:30 on Monday, 18 March. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and are able to enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation. PTA Officers! On Tuesday, 26 February, the PTA selected a new slate of officers. Please join me in welcoming (and thanking in advance) these people for being so willing to dedicate their time to the school:
Also, please join me in thanking our outgoing officers: Mariana Boley (outgoing Secretary) and Jane Okafor and Anna Caprile (outgoing Sports Coordinators). It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Mariana, Jane, and Anna (and the rest of the PTA) across the last year. There is no doubt that AISL is a better school because of their efforts. Thank you! ASA Recital on 2 March! Please join us in the Tiyende Pamodzi Theater on 2 March from 16:00 for our annual ASA Music Recital. This is an important celebration and performance opportunity for the more than 50 AISL students who take private music lessons. Many thanks to Susanna Georgiou for planning this fun afternoon of music. Welcome Dr. Kedra Ishop! Next week we will be hosting Dr. Kedra Ishop, the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management at the University of Michigan. Her visit is sponsored by the Overseas Schools Project through the U.S. State Department’s Office of Overseas Schools. This project is designed to connect university admissions personnel with students and parents who are interested in learning more about applying to university in the United States. She will be hosting a Parent Information Session on Tuesday, 5 March at 07:30 in the Palm Pavilion. She is also available on Monday and Tuesday for appointments. Please email Julie Baldry ([email protected]) if you would like to arrange an appointment. More Netball News! Having just won the LISL Netball tournament, our U19 girls went on to win last week’s ISAZ Midlands Championship. This means they will be heading to the ISAZ nationals on 15 March at ISL. Given that this is only our second year of netball competition, we are particularly pleased with these results. Congratulations to Coach Bupe Mulenga and her impressive scholar-athletes!
