What I am excited about this week…

  1. WorldFest! is finally here!  Many thanks to all those who offered to bring food to support the students’ International Food Fair on Friday, April 28th from 11:00-13:00.  It is not too late if you did not sign up. Please feel free to bring a platter of food that represents your home country and leave it in the Protea Room any time before 11:00 on Friday. Also, please remember that parents are welcome to join or observe our Flag Parade, which will start in the upper field around 07:45. Please wear national dress or colors.
  2. 30th Anniversary Party – We need support!  Please plan to join us for our 30th Anniversary Dinner Dance on May 6th at 1900. We need to sell more tickets in order for this event to be a success. Tickets are available at Friday Market and the main office for K300. The evening will feature dinner, dancing, a cash bar, and a silent auction. All proceeds will be used to support our scholarship program. If you have any questions or are willing to donate something for the silent auction, please email 30years@aislusaka.org. Tickets are limited so be sure to buy yours soon.
  3. Crowdfunding for the Scholarship Program! We have just started a crowdfunding campaign to support our scholarship program. We thought that alumni, family, and friends might wish to help us support this great program. Please spread the word. You can learn more by clicking on the link to this brand new page: Through the Decades
  4. ISSEA! Congratulations to our football, golf, tennis, and STEM teams for their participation in last week’s ISSEA tournaments in Addis Ababa, Harare, and Maputo. We are very proud of the achievements of our scholar-athletes, including our 1st Place Golf Team! Go Leopards!
  5. Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Ceremony! Today, we were honored to host a variety of dignitaries from Commonwealth nations along with students, faculty, and friends to celebrate the arrival of the Queen’s Baton in Zambia. The baton is on a 388-day journey to the 2018 Commonwealth Games to be hosted in Australia in April 2018.  Many thanks to Christine Kelly for organizing this great opportunity.
  6. IB Exams start on Monday! Please join me in wishing the Grade 12 students good luck on their IB exams. Despite it being a school holiday, the exams begin on Monday, May 1st. Good luck seniors!
