On Friday afternoon, Grade 6 - 11 students will receive a link to ManageBac containing their Semester 1 report. These reports provide a snapshot of your child's progress at this point in the academic year, offering valuable insight as they work towards the end of the year. When reviewing these reports, it's important to engage in conversations about the Approaches to Learning (ATL) core skills we report on. If these skills are marked as 'rarely' or 'sometimes', it indicates that your child needs to focus on improving these skills. These skills are fundamental in unlocking higher order ATL skills and establishing habits that will grant them access to the knowledge and concepts in each of our classes. In the upcoming weeks, students will work in their Ubuntu classes to review their reports, reflect on their progress, and set goals for improvement. Once this cycle is complete, your child will be able to articulate the areas they are targeting for improvement in the final semester. This could be a specific ATL, a criterion level, or reaching the next band in their overall achievement level for a particular subject. If they are unsure about a particular criteria level, encourage them to see their teacher for an explanation of its application. A crucial opportunity for goal-based discussions will be at our upcoming Student-Parent-Teacher conferences, scheduled for March 20th and 21st in the afternoon from 12:30 - 5:00 pm. More information about these conferences will be provided in the coming weeks. Comments are closed.
