19/2/2019

On Saturday 16 February AISL hosted the Independent Schools Association of Zambia (ISAZ) Teachers Teaching Teachers (TTT) conference. We had over 460 participants, including 40 heads of ISAZ schools. Special guests included dignitaries from the Ministry of General Education and the Teaching Council of Zambia as well as keynote speakers, James Kapesa, CEO of Knowledgegates and Gift Chansa from Circus Zambia.

Special thanks to the ISAZ TTT planning team: Anne-Marie Phiri-van Hooijdonk, Claire Potts, Ingrid Turner, Leslie Jeffery, Mark Cormack, Driekie Smith, Maria Albornoz, Rob Martin, Martina van Vlaanderen, Jill Daley, Bridget McCall, Kate Dobson, Maya Monteroso, Sheila Seiler, Mike Mills and Christine Kelly as our chairperson, along with 17 other people from ten different schools. This team has been meeting for months to go through every step of the day to ensure a high-quality experience.

Thank you also to our AISL workshop presenters: Josephine McAleer, Anne-Marie Phiri-van Hooijdonk, Rob Martin, Alta Conte, Nathan Chilton, Bridget McCall, Ingrid Turner, Jill Daley, Erica Breth, Chulu Chansa, Julie Frederick, Terry Maguire, Monique Chapman, and Tony Potts. With many presenters from other schools too, we were able to offer eighty workshops.

The AISL campus looked its best and the numerous setups required were capably handled by James Biggs, Martina van Vlaanderen, and their crews. Thanks to Mike Mills for keeping security running smoothly and the AISL Tech Team: Michael Mee, Langi Shuma, Dixon Mvula, and Edwin Kamangala for making sure everyone was properly plugged in as well as organised in the theater. And, as usual, Liz Cooke and her team kept everyone well-fed. Thanks to our student volunteers who helped direct our visitors on campus, as well as Nurse Jennifer Anunsacion for addressing any medical needs.
