Yelling and Running in the LibraryIf you visited the library in the past 2 weeks during our Ubuntu time, you may have heard a lot of noise and seen some kids running around. The G6-G10s have been doing scavenger hunts and playing a Blooket game to refresh their library skills. On the secondary side of the library, our fiction section is arranged into genres because that helps the library patrons find more great books like the ones they just read. The down side of this marketing strategy is that it can be tricky to remember how to find books. Thus we do twice yearly reviews where we have the students race each other to find different books in all the different sections of the library. The students play as a team against other teams so the students who know can teach the newcomers or the non-frequent library users where to go. Well done Risk Takers!Thank you to all the students, and even a few intrepid adults, who checked out a blind date book. We hope your relationship is going well and you are enjoying/did enjoy the book you chose on faith. G10 Wise Decision UnitPlease be advised that the new G10 Ubuntu unit is about Wise Decisions. We began the unit last week with discussions about digital habits and screen addiction. Our lessons for the next 2 weeks will deal with controversy and how to deal with people who have different opinions, beliefs, or lifestyles than you do. Our final lessons of this unit starting after the March break will involve lessons on birth control, abstinence, and abortion. The G9 advisors will be leading most of the lessons in the unit but our counselor, Driekie Smith, will be leading the sessions about sexual decision making. If you have any questions about the lessons or the curriculum content, please write to Kim Shumlansky (kshumlanksy@aislusaka.org) who is the G9/10 team leader. If you would like your child to be excused from these lessons, please also write to Kim. Library HoursThe library is pleased to open its doors to students and parents from: 7:00 until 16:00 Monday through Thursday 7:00 until 14:00 on Friday We are also open the first and third Saturday of every month from 9:00 until 12:00 (unless that falls on a public holiday). Thus we will be open on the Saturdays of 2 March and 16 March. Comments are closed.
