Middle School News

The second week back from holiday has started smoothly. It is always a challenge to get back into the school routine after a long break. We are happy to say all of our MS students are settling in nicely.  With the gym renovations on the horizon, the Tuck Shop has relocated to behind C–Block, the yellow container next to the walkway. As this new space is a bit smaller, and we want to ensure all students are able to get food in a timely fashion, Middle School students will now start lunch 5 minutes earlier than High School students.

Last week, students had the opportunity to sign up for ASA's during advisory.  Remember, ASA's start on Wednesday, 24 January. Please don't forget we also have Middle School Tutoring/Homework Assistance in C4 aka "The Zone" on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 14:45 - 15:30. No sign up is necessary and this is a great place to work on assignments while waiting for a second session ASA.

We are looking forward to our Middle School Neon Dance this Friday 26 January 18:00 – 20:00. Way to go MS Student Council for all of the hard work and effort you have put into planning this event.

We are excited about our upcoming Visiting Author Samm Farai who will be with us the week of 5 February. In honor of his visit, we will host our second Middle School Coffee House on Wednesday, 7 February in the Zone, 08:30 – 09:30.  We are looking forward to seeing our Middle School Students show off their talents.  Please encourage your child to participate.

During our last MS Coffee House and our End of Term Assembly, our Grade 6 student, Ishaan Gurazada, shared this original poem:
Whispers
As the sun shines, I hear whispers.
Some chirp while the rest flap their feathers but they still whisper.
They come closer to me as the sun shines harder
Those are the whispers of happiness
As it rains, I still hear some whispers.
Some bang onto the ground while some just move their leaves around
They move away from me as the rain becomes more powerful
Those are the whispers of sadness
As the weather gets cold, I don't hear so many whispers
They just breath in really fast pace
Their breath becomes darker as the weather gets colder
Those are the whispers of fear
Then, as the flowers bloom, I hear many whispers.
Most of them whistle happily going through flower and flower.
They either come closer or move away but, I can still hear those whispers
Those are the whispers of hope
And there are times where I can hear all of those whispers
They always build me up to who I am today
I can hear them more clear as they come even near
Those are the whispers of life
