Primary: Poetry Around the Pond

Thank you to all of the students who submitted a poem for this contest. While the student and teacher judges found it difficult to select the winners, we are proud to announce that we have ten winning poems! The judges considered style and content when making their selection and believe these poems capture beauty we experience every day in Zambia.  Stop by the primary office and view the winning poems in the glass display case.

As a joint Primary/Secondary project, students in Mrs. Nevers Grade 10 Visual Arts class will be illustrating the poems. We plan to display the images along with the poems at the pond before the end of the school year.

Selected poems:
  • The Bag written by PreK J & illustrated by Maddy
  • Our Favourite Rock written by PreK J & illustrated by Ayra
  • I See the Blue Sky written by Cora KG & illustrated by Lanaya
  • The Grass is Green written by Clara KG & illustrated by Mohamed
  • I Hear People’s Steps written by Cade KG & illustrated by Nchimunya
  • Elephants written by Connor G2 & illustrated by Mbiko
