Swimming unit in Primary PE

We would like to inform you that the PE swimming unit will begin on Monday, 9 November, 2020 and will end on Friday, 26 February, 2021. Students will swim for a total of 12 weeks. Please take note of the following swimming structures in order to align with our current health and safety guidelines:

• Each class from KG-G5 will be divided into two groups. One group will be swimming (i.e. Monday) while the other half of the class will be doing a ‘dry’ lesson on the covered court focusing on PE skills. During their second PE lesson that week (i.e. Wednesday), the groups will switch.
• You will receive a schedule letting you know your child’s designated swimming day. The other PE lesson during the week will be a ‘dry’ lesson and focus on a skills unit. 
• For both PE lessons each week, your child is to come dressed in their PE kit.
• ELC students will swim each week as they only have PE once a week. The swimming team will monitor the number of students in the water at any one time throughout the lesson.

For the days that your child will be swimming, please pack the following in a small bag:

• Swimsuit (girls required to wear one-piece suits).
• Swim cap - this is a MUST have for all students.
• Towel
• Sunscreen/cream
• Goggles (optional) Students to bring them only IF they are certain they will use them.
• No flotation devices are necessary.
