The Torpedoes Swim Club recently held its Annual Award Ceremony at AISL. Many of the club's 46 swimmers and their parents attended a celebration of personal achievement and sportsmanship, followed by a Team social.

Mr Guy Phiri, President of the Zambian Amateur Swimming Association (ZASU), presided as Master of Ceremonies and in his opening remarks, mentioned Ralph Goveia, a beginner swimmer from AISL, and now the first Zambian swimmer to attain Olympic classification times.

Coaches Ian Stephenson and Walid Sammoud commended every swimmer for their achievements over the 2016 - 2017 season.  Over the season, more than 730 Personal Best times were attained (PBs) and more than 20 Zambian and ZASU records were broken.

The evening had also some emotional moments when the Team Captains, Naested and Fleur, praised the departing members: Coach Walid, Tom, Austin, Tyler and Lulu.

It's been both an amazing yet challenging season.  The Torpedoes Swim Club has completed it's first season operating independently from AISL.  The Club are proud to be associated with the school, and are extremely grateful for the support they have received from the school this season.

The swimmers and Coaches have demonstrated true dedication, commitment, enthusiasm and incredible Team Spirit.

Go-o-o-o-o Torpedoes!

In the words of Coach Ian "WE MEAN BUSINESS!"
