Dear Parents,

Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we worked to ensure both the  continuity of our educational program and the health and safety of the AISL community. I am particularly grateful to the Embassy of the United States including USAID and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, both of which have been actively communicating with the Ministry of Health on our behalf. This morning we had a very successful campus inspection by the Ministry of Health. The Ministry has since indicated to the embassy that we may reopen, on schedule, this Tuesday, 16 January. We are grateful to the Ministry for this permission and will continue to ensure that our campus is a safe place for our community.   Our understanding is that the Zambian Government will also be communicating more details regarding the opening of local and international schools shortly as the the number of cholera cases appears to have plateaued.

In a previous email, I outlined the significant measures we have taken to ensure a very high level of sanitation and hygiene on our campus as well as additional education for staff regarding cholera prevention. We extend our thanks again to our Health and Safety Officer, Martina Van Vlaanderen, and her team for their efforts. We will continue these measures for the time being and may, upon advice from health experts, add additional precautions. We will be sure to notify the community of any additional measures that may be necessary.

If you would like to learn more about the measures we have taken, please feel welcome to attend one of our two information sessions for parents. Please feel free to join me in the Protea Room at 18:00 on 15 January or at 07:30 on 16 January.

As always, if you have any specific concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at rmenard@aislusaka.org.

Thank you for your patience and support.

Sincerely,

Russ Menard
