When some students return from a vacation it may appear to teachers that they have forgotten what they’ve learned.  MAP results may indicate drops in math, reading and language scores.  This coffee session will offer activities, resources and strategies to use with students while on vacation that are fun and engaging.  Please come and experience some of the activities. In a previous parent coffee morning presentation, we shared the following information. We hope that it will be useful as you're thinking about the upcoming vacation.

Some suggested activities:
  • Sudoku
  • Cribbage
  • Lumosity
  • News in Levels
  • Newsela
  • Mad Libs
  • Logic Games
  • 30/60 Seconds (math, adjectives, animals, colors, etc.)
  • I went on a trip… (memory game)
  • I spy…
  • Competition games
  • Movies in a specific language
Additional Online Summer Resources for Students
“While unstructured time for fun and play is valuable,” says the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Share My Lesson Team in this American Educator article, “many students could also benefit from intellectual stimulation during the summer.” For students who may not be able to take part in structured programs, the AFT suggest these free online resources:
-   Summer Learning at Home
-   Baseball
-   Celebrate Science
-   Teacher Resources Inspired by Films
-   Storyline Online
-   Tap, Click, Read: Growing Readers in a World of Screens webinar
-   Math Homework Help for Parents
