WorldFest - A Time of Unity

Mother Teresa once said, “If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.”

On April 28, we will be hosting our 30-year anniversary celebration coinciding with WorldFest Day.  This is a day to celebrate the school’s diversity, peace, and our shared humanity.  While the world outside of our school walls may seem topsy-turvy at times, we will continue to try to shape the world as we want it to be, a place where all nationalities, races, genders, and cultures appreciate one another and enjoy the variety of perspectives and flavors that we bring to each other’s’ lives.  It is a time for equality and a time to demonstrate how each member and culture within the AISL community is greatly valued.  AISL models peace and understanding through our diversity.  It is our differences and our ability to respect them that make us great.

I offer the following videos as way of showing how much diversity and the appreciation of humanity means to us.

We were shown this DNA video this morning by our School Director and I found it very moving! It inspired us to remember what it truly means to be a global citizen, how interconnected we are and how pride and greed really don't get us far in life. How important it is to teach and model to our children- empathy, acceptance and understanding, all qualities we need in a fast changing world, as well as creativity, critical thinking and a bunch more!
